While walking this morning, I tried to imagine what Phil would want me to convey. My thoughts went instantly to two of the doctors that worked with Phil during his journey with cancer. He saw many doctors but these two had a special place in his heart. They both are everything you would want in a doctor. Both are kind, caring, took time for him and listened. Brain cancer is a cruel insidious disease, and we were both grateful to have direction and kindness.
From the minute Phil met Dr. Bradley in the hospital after his first surgery, he told me that he wanted him for his doctor. Phil looked forward to his visits, the entire staff was amazing and he always came out with a better outlook than when he went in. Phil loved Dr. Bradley and what we learned from him was invaluable. He shared information, we loved to chat with him and caring was what we took away from our visits. Phil was more than appreciative and I'm eternally grateful to him.
Dr. Feehan works with the Cancer Center in the hospital. Phil enjoyed his wit, his honesty and his ability to make your feel confident about having radiation as a treatment. Each of the caring people that worked with Phil as he went through treatment made it all just a little bit more bearable. There was a gentleness that was taken away from Dr. Feehan and that helped when things were overwhelming. Phil thought he was funny and always left the office in a better spirit.
Both doctors and staff were there for both of us if we needed anything. I would describe how they cared for us, as beyond the call of duty. So from the bottom of my heart and I know Phil would say the same - Thank you Dr. Bradley and Dr. Feehan, you made a very difficult situation just a little bit easier.
I'm sending a hug and big appreciation for what you do.
My walk took me to the jetty and wharf 2 looking for wildlife. There were many sea lions at the jetty today. The tide was out and I noticed an abundance of purple sea urchins.
This little one had flippers that were as big as it was.

The sun was shining, there are lots of tourists in town and it was announced today that the aquarium is opening back up.
I can't resist a flower.
To Phil:
I watched what you had to go through, it haunts me still. Thank goodness for the kindness of others to help us get through.
I miss you.
