It was overcast this morning, I decided to run errands and see if the sun would come up by the time I finished. I needed to go by Seaside so I decided to walk on Obama Way. I've been on the street before but I have never walked the entire street. The things you see and find when you are on foot!
The pandemic has caused a change in businesses. I could see empty spots but there were also signs of new one's moving in.
I have admired the mural below as I have driven by. What I found on foot was a great surprise. I wish I could tell Phil about this one, I will tell you instead. A Jazz bar, I adore jazz, I stepped inside and it was very nice and felt welcoming. The people I talked to were receptive and I could imagine listening to music there. This will be a must in the future. It looked like they had an outdoor section as well as very attractive indoor seating. Yahoooooo Jazz. Deja Blue.
Dispensary's and coffee!
A wonderful mural with great women who have made contributions to society. I took photos in sections because it is quite long.
I got pulled into the next surprise by not only the signs but the smell of fresh bread baking. I found myself looking inside and it looked fun. The aroma irresistible. Phil would have loved this one too! Other Brother Beer Co.
Then off to Sand City! It is almost time for West End Celebration. It is an event that my daughters and I have taken part of in the past. The photo's below are from one of our times participating at West End. Art, good music and food, a street party extreme! We had a great time as a family participating. My daughters Nicole and Noelle had, "Ma's Green Living" and my friend Paula and I had a "Gypsea" tent. The mannequin I decorated made her debut there, Alice was popular!
The streets were quiet this morning in Sand City but the murals were bright. August 28 - 29 2021 the streets will once again be celebratory with West End Celebration coming back, after not being held during the pandemic.
While I was walking through the warehouses I spotted this rabbit. It looked like a domestic rabbit that was running wild. I tried to get close but it outsmarted me and got away. Something in its eye made me want to take it off the streets.
A fancy beehive in the local garden.
This just makes me smile.
Then off to the beach...still no sun, but lots of color! I got carried away and climbed a dune.
It was a fun day full of discovery.
For Phil
I miss you.
When I listen to jazz, I can feel your spirit.
One very special jazz fest comes to my mind. We had the van and spent 2 nights at the jazz fest. Because the van was small the put us in front right next to the stage. The first night we lay in the van and listened to Herbie Hancock play on the stage. What a magical weekend it was!
Phil's face beaming listening to George Benson.
Below we are at West End Celebration.
