This morning I ventured out into the rain to take images and get my walk. I don't mind walking in the rain, but taking images is another story. I came up with a plan, I went to Cannery Row with the intention I could hide under roofs, awnings and overhangs to take photos. That presented a new challenge plus the rain as an added one. I headed out in my rain coat, hood up and camera tucked under the coat.
I peeked in windows, stood under any ledge I could find and my camera lens still got wet. I loved the lights reflecting in the water on the streets. I enjoyed myself, I love a challenge plus there was no one out and about so I had the area to myself. Just a few people getting ready for the day.
Raindrops on my lens. Which reminded me, Phil loved the movie "Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid", he would sing along to "Raindrops Keep Falling On My Head". Oh I felt that in my heart. Memories flooded me today.
And just like the guy whose feet are too big for his bed
Nothin' seems to fit
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'
So I just did me some talkin' to the sun
And I said I didn't like the way he got things done
Sleepin' on the job
Those raindrops are fallin' on my head, they keep fallin'
But there's one thing I know
The blues they send to meet me won't defeat me
It won't be long 'til happiness steps up to greet me
Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red
Cryin's not for me
'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'
Because I'm free
Nothing's worryin' me
It won't be long 'til happiness steps up to greet me
Raindrops keep fallin' on my head
But that doesn't mean my eyes will soon be turnin' red
Cryin's not for me
'Cause I'm never gonna stop the rain by complainin'
Because I'm free
Nothing's worryin'
Me

Sometimes it just drizzled and other times it poured, my jeans were soaking up water and my legs were getting heavy.
Noelle and I have had the privilege of getting to view a couple of online tours of the aquarium, thanks to some very sweet friends. I have many wonderful memories under that roof. When Phil worked security there, he would take me to different places in the building to have lunch in. He and I had fun and many laughs in that building. Noelle and I are both anxious to get back in there, we are counting down the days until our county opens up a little more. Our covid numbers are still quite high, so I think it will still be a little while.
I squeezed down through all kinds of pathways trying to get to see the ocean.
I thought that I would head down to Fisherman's Wharf to do the same thing, hide and take images. But on my way there, it started to rain harder than I was comfortable with. I snapped a few shots on my way back to where my car was parked.
Then I decided to check out the rest of the peninsula and see if the rain was covering the area. I had a great idea that I would take pictures from inside the car. I pulled up to an area and rolled down the window. Good in theory but the rain just blew right in. I turned the car around so I could shoot through the passenger window. When I looked out the window there was a sea otter bobbing right in front of me. I got a few images before he disappeared.
One more image and I called it a day. An interesting day.
By the time I got home I was soaked.
For Phil:
Memories surrounded me this morning.
An evening on Cannery Row
and beautiful family memories at the aquarium
