Pacific Grove to Klamath to Corvallis - The trip begins!!!!!

In the photo above are our two very kind and generous hosts.  Our destination - their home in Corvallis, Oregon, they have been more than supportive during our journey in healing Phil, this was just another amazing act of kindness and generosity.

We planned, packed and anticipated, and before you knew it, it was time to begin the journey.  Excited, nervous and crazy, were just a few of the feelings, we had as we left the house.  This would be the first time that we would wander further than a couple of hours from home and would be far from all the doctors.  Freedom, it felt like freedom, with that freedom, came fear.  I think fear is my personal biggest obstacle on this journey.  I continue to find ways to get around the fear, to move past it and onto joy.  There were nerves, many preparations, plans and the thrill of a trip in the air.

Our first day would be from Pacific Grove to Klamath, California.  We anticipated that with stopping that it would take about 10 hours to get there.  We were taking Hwy 1 to the 101 and straight to Klamath.  First day was going to be long - we were ready and we were filled with anticipation.

We picnicked at Half Moon Bay, we always take our food and drinks when we travel, it seems to keep us healthier and meals always taste better outdoors.  Penelope was packed so we could make lunch right out of the back of the car.  She is a gem, Penelope, the purple PT Cruiser who purred her way right through the journey.

We arrived at our hotel late in the evening, it was a nice hotel, in a lovely area.  We unpacked, got our essential oils going in the diffuser and ate a little dinner in our room.  This time the ever elegant almond butter and jelly, it was delicious.  We were exhausted and fell into bed.

The only hitch in our day, happened in the middle of the night.   We had entered Burger King for a bathroom break during our drive, they had "bargain" prices on a small package of chicken nuggets for $2.  Seemed harmless and irresistible, until I awoke to an allergic reaction, probably to some garlic seasoning on the nuggets.  I got through it, felt better by morning, but a reminder that I would have to be careful what I ate while on the trip.  I knew better......

Starting the morning in Klamath, California, to cool, crisp air and beautiful scenery, what more could you want?  We were filled with hope and  the desire to have fun and enjoy ourselves.  We started to lose ourselves in the journey.  Like so many of our trips in the past, it felt natural.  Different than the old days, but the same in many ways.  Our spirits started to soar. The old Linda and Phil started to emerge.

Corvallis, Oregon

The trip from Klamath to Corvallis was filled with beauty. fun and more stops than the day before.  We managed to play in nature, get sucked into tourist traps and the photographs just started to roll.  It was nice not to rush, to be able to enjoy the sights around us.

We just played around in the front of The Trees of Mystery. It is a mystery what was inside, but the kids were having a ball outside talking to Paul Bunyan.

Breaks and rest stops provided beach and forest scenery for my photography fix.

It didn't take long to see one of the differences between Oregon and California.  Cannabis is legal for recreational use in Oregon.  The first thing we noticed was a pot store, we doubled back and went in and asked questions.  It wasn't much different from the dispensary here, the people were friendly and said they had been very busy with people from around the globe visiting and buying cannabis legally.  We  could not however buy medicinal cannabis for Phil, he would have to have an Oregon medicinal card.

I love love love the unusual, we stopped and checked out all kinds of art along the way.  The wood carvings were unreal!!!!  My friend Chris had recommended a road to cut over from the coast, to get to Corvallis, Hwy 36.  Lake Creek ran beside the road and the scenery was incredible.  On one of our stops to check out the creek we discovered a river otter.  He seemed to be issuing a warning that we were in the neighborhood.

There are messages everywhere.

Be Kind

When we arrive in Corvallis, we are greeted warmly by our hosts.  We get the house tour and a wonderful salmon dinner, with homemade bread which is Scott's specialty.  Blueberries, raspberries and pie - oh my!  We enjoyed their very comfy wonderful home and just had fun.  We had an upstairs extravaganza, with a balcony that overlooked the garden in the back.  Raspberries were growing at a fast rate right there in the back yard, there was nothing to do but eat them.  The hospitality was spectacular,  with love, wonderful conversion and fun.   Phil's face said it all - the beautiful smile, the one I adore, was spread across that handsome face.  There are no words to express our thanks for this trip.  This was only the beginning, this first night only set the mood for the adventures to come.

Misha - Just a great girl, she was perfect in every way.

Then a walk around the neighborhood before turning in.......

Thank you very much Chris and Scott!  I can't wait to share what came next!

Found these on Phil's phone:
