Dog therapy - Dog sitting - and an update of Phil's progress

Judy

Our journey with Phil's cancer continues, ups and downs, sadness and happiness and hope and despair.  No two days are the same, there are good times and hard times.  Some of Phil's and my best times have been spent with dogs. Phil and I have always loved dogs, we just lost our beloved Judy this past year.  Judy was with us for 17 glorious years, not a day goes by that we don't speak her name.   Instead of a pinky swear, Phil and I swear on Judies Bootie.  If these words are spoken Phil and I know it is serious subject, one to pay attention to. Phil and I adored Judy, she was our traveling companion, we bought the van so she could be with us all the time.  That she was and boy did we go on wonderful adventures.

Phil, Judy and the van

Something extraordinary having to do with dogs, has come into our lives.  It has blown its way into our lives through coincidence and messages from friends.  A few weeks ago, I mentioned on Facebook, that I thought dog sitting would be a good idea for us, before you knew it, a couple of wonderful friends, Vanessa and Bonny were suggesting Rover.com.  Bonny put me in touch with a friend of hers Suzanne, who filled me in on Rover.com.  I registered and got my self all set up online and we are loving dog sitting.  https://www.rover.com/sit/lindahellyer  The added wonderful benefit to this is that is has been the best therapy for Phil and I.  Dogs just seem to know that something is up with Phil, they have all been so gentle and loving to him.  I watch him quietly talk to them, they respond and magic happens. A true blessing for us..... Our first jobs have been with our friends pooches and we have been having the time of our lives.  All kinds of smiles, laughter and love going on during our glorious time with our new fur friends.

An update on Phil:  He  had an MRI this past weekend - we will be going to the doctor tomorrow morning to see how it came out.  Probably why I am not sleeping and writing a blog instead.  It has been a rough time the last couple of weeks.  He is still feeling weak and a bit under the weather since the last chemo round.  The next round of chemo starts on Saturday, not excited about it, but we are getting closer to the end of the chemo.  It is a day to day gig right now.  We continue to love and support one another.  We continue to receive love and support from all of our family and friends.  We continue to have hope and faith that Phil will continue to heal and each day is treated as a blessing.  Thank you again to everyone for your love, we need it and it is appreciated.
