My mind has been mulling over the cycle of life this past week.  The day went along with the theme and was filled with messages of beginnings and endings.  It's weird how events roll out the way they do.  I feel frozen right now, emotional and yet life keeps moving one moment at a time  I'm proud of myself for helping Phil get to his ending and starting to explore new beginnings for myself.  I'm still just moving one baby step at a time.

Each sunrise represents hope.  Hope for happiness, love and finding my way forward.

There were a few otters at the jetty.  One of them was a female whose nose was in bad shape from a mating escapade.  Her nose was hard to look at, but it is part of nature, she seemed okay.  She will hopefully have a pup and it will carry on the important job of being a sea otter.  They are an important part in maintaining the ecosystem of the kelp forest.

An Osprey was sitting on a post at the jetty, it was watching the sea looking for breakfast.

I'd been watching two seagull nests on the jetty, both had disappeared, but I saw that there was a gull working on a new one.

When I checked the cormorant nest I've been keeping my eye on, a very pleasant surprise - a new hatchling!  Her nest was a work of art, I have been waiting patiently.  Only one chick that I could see.

On of the neighbors had a bunch of chicks and it seemed very busy in their nest.

I rarely take photos of the coast guard personnel, but they are at the jetty every morning doing their job.  A big thanks to them for what they do!

The cormorants bounce across the sea as they take off.

As I headed home I spotted another Osprey in a tree.

A friend let me know that a dead whale had washed up on Asilomar.  I went to take a look.  Very sad but a chance to look at a whale close up.  There were a few people on the beach, most being very respectful, albeit curious.

Besides the whale, Asilomar Beach was beautiful and life carried on....

For Phil
You fill my heart and mind
I miss you.

Oh to be in Santa Barbara together......
