When I first started this blog, it started as a way to promote a business and to journal our travels. Right before Phil was diagnosed with cancer we had decided to downsize and spend more time traveling in our conversion van. After the diagnosis, our lives were turned upside down. We lost everything, he was facing brain cancer and I felt very alone. I then started using the blog as a personal journal, letting out my fear, my experiences and Phil's journey. More than anything I wanted Phil to have a voice about what was happening to him.
After Phil's death, I'm looking for peace, a way to develop my image taking skills and most important, keeping Phil's memory alive. Passion for photography keeps me going and the 365 day challenge is giving me purpose.
This morning I got out as the sunset colors were starting to disappear. I managed to get a couple of images of the perfectly pink tones.
The way we are positioned on the bay, we catch the sunrise over the bay and the sunset over the ocean.
I decided to spend the morning walking between the Coast Guard Pier and Del Monte Beach.
When Phil was ill, he was intrigued with the processes of bringing the boats in and out of the water. His auto repair shop on DLI gave him a view of the harbor area, he loved that. There is not much in our area that doesn't remind me of Phil.
While I was poking around the pier area, I spotted a couple of birds. The blue heron, in the image above, flew out of an area underneath the building and put itself right in front of me. That gave me joy!
I spotted an egret and it let me walk around all angles and it acted like I wasn't there.
As I made my way towards the Wharf II, I spotted another heron on top of the Custom House. It preened itself and promptly went to sleep.
I poked around on the Wharf and found it a good place for image making.
I love seeing people wearing their masks, protecting others and themselves. Covid is out of control here and is causing troubles with space in hospitals. I have noticed that people have been being very considerate with spacing and masks. What distresses me is that I'm seeing many masks on the ground. The other day when I was walking I saw a little girl pick one up and put it on her face. Her mom snapped it right up, please pick up after yourself.
I found a sea lion floating beside the wharf, lots of pigeons and what seemed like a surf lesson going on.
On my way home, I spotted a Snowy Egret, look at those fluffy gorgeous feathers.
For Phil:
Missing you
