Love, Healing, Nature and Wildlife go hand in hand on the Monterey Peninsula

Update on Phil and what's going on with us:  Phil has started the new year with a happy attitude, healthy except some sinus issues, allergies and is dealing with day to day challenges with his usual stubborn tenacity.  He is exercising and gets stronger each day.  We were worried about going into the new year due to insurance challenges last year, dealing with getting his medications and dealing with co-pays with the new insurance.  So far so good, a much better start, I'm knocking on wood as it is still early in the month and we are still in the process of getting all those first visits, first medication refills and dealing with a new insurance company.  All in all a good start to the year.  Trying to hold on to hope, positive energy and love.  Each moment - I mean it - each moment is a treasured moment.  There is no wasted time, there is too little of it.

Busy with dog sitting, which is the blessing of a lifetime.  Phil and I are filled with gratitude for these beautiful souls.  They fill us with purpose, give us unconditional love and the therapy they provide is priceless.  I can't think of a better business for us than taking care of animals.  I believe the love that is shared between all of us is mutual.  Each animal giving us something different.

Every other moment has been reading cards, and working on my psychic chat.  I am gaining new perspective and with each reading I can feel myself getting better at it.  With practice, one gains confidence and a new awareness with the tarot.  I continue to write my interpretation, it has been slow because we have been busy, but I will be getting back to writing again.  I have been learning more as I have been writing and exploring.  Interesting - the tarot is just another part of our journey and it really uplifting, I continue to try to spread joy and love to others.

Phil continues to improve, there are times of sadness but we are enjoying a quality of life that we filled with gratitude for.  Phil continues to gain more independence and confidence.  I just listen to his lead, and that continues to put us in a positive place.  Exercise for both of us essential and a part of keeping depression away.  We laugh, we talk and we dream.......

My mornings often start before the sun rises.  Phil likes to sleep in and I love to experience the sunrise.  He stays in and I run out like a maniac.  Ha! That would be typical of us.  Phil will be up and have breakfast cooking when I get home from taking photos.  We are back to what would be routine for us in the morning.  Not all the way, but closer than I ever imagined possible a couple of years ago.  It is the small pleasures......just the freedom to feel relaxed enough to do that is amazing.

Some mornings I run around Cannery Row.  I love the way it is right before the sun comes up.  Empty and lit up.  You can feel the history if you are still for a moment.

We've been busy and I haven't had time to put together a blog or my images for a couple of weeks.  They built up, there quite a few, I apologize.  We have squeezed walks in when we can, the wildlife, nature and beauty is what keeps us going, filling us with life force and healing energy.  We both live to breath the sea air, to watch a bird fly or listen to the ocean hit the rocks on shore.   We have found that besides sharing time with loved ones, this is where we find joy in life.

Another one of Phil's and my favorite spots is around the Harbor and the Wharf.  The mornings are calm, beautiful and the colors can be unbelievable.

Checking on the Harbor Seals is just a regular part of our routine on our walks.  They are a joy and I can't wait for the pups to start arriving.

I finally caught something on camera that I have been watching in the distance since I have lived on the Monterey Penisula.  A Sea Lion flipping around a sun fish, with the birds feeding all around.  WOW!  There seems to be many dead sun fish floating around in the ocean at this time.

The sea lions by the Coast Guard Jetty are far more docile and quiet.  Resting and catching up on sleep so they can get back to fishing.

The Sea Otters have been having pups, so Phil and I have been spending some time around the jetty so I can get close to take a photos.  We have seen some wonderful behaviors, eating mussels, eating 2 crabs at once and we spotted our first pup.

Getting ready to be a mom, she needs a good diet to be able to care and feed her new baby.

Wrapped up and sleeping in the kelp.

A new Sea Otter Pup and her proud Mom.

A current has brought 1000's of jellies into the harbor.  I love the challenge of taking photos of the jellies underwater.  It has been amazing!

The sea stars have been showing themselves this year.  Big ones, I say.

You can see we have been chasing wildlife.  I have ended up being a bird watcher, I am fascinated with them.  Egrets, herons, gulls, and more.  I am in love with them, they are all elegant, graceful and beautiful creatures.  My spirit animal is bird....all birds.....freedom, flight and travel.

Yes perhaps it might be a problem, this bird thing, but the joy I get from watching them while I take the photos.....relaxation.....I lose myself into the moment.

The ocean ever present in our lives.  We are starting to try to imagine another small trip.  Adventure is in our souls.  Sea foam, waves and the sound of the sea fill our days.  We are filled with appreciation and are positive it helps us get through and it bringing healing to Phil.  We still need your love, we still need your prayers and thank you for your support.  It is what helps us continue with our journey with hope and joy.

The ending, the sunset brings not sadness but accomplishment.  Gratitude and the feeling that we made it through - not only through but with love, joy and laughter.  Quality of life, I now understand that term.  I guess you can say that I embrace and understand it.

To love and hope, to family and friends and most of all here's to peace on earth.
