Mystical Moon on our adventure to Santa Barbara, Solvang, Pismo, Cayucos and San Simeon -

We only had a couple of days, a limited budget but we had the desire for adventure.  It was Phil's birthday and it was time to live life to its fullest.  We decided to go south, it had been a while since we went that direction.  We headed out early and stopped in Pismo Beach and had a picnic overlooking the ocean.  I took photos while Phil and Noelle spread lunch and then we just took a moment and took in the scenery.

We headed toward Santa Barbara, all of us have history there and have called it home.  We drove around Montecito and looked at the damage that had been done in the recent fire and floods.  It was soul shattering.  I didn't take photos, it was shocking and they were still in the process of cleaning up the mess.  My heart goes out to all that lost there lives and their homes.

We did spend some time in Shoreline Park and took a quick walk.  When we lived in Santa Barbara we rented a house that was across the street from Shoreline Park, it is always fun to visit.

We didn't spend much time there, we needed to head to Solvang where we were spending the night.  We ate dinner in the hotel and headed out for the evening.  Phil and I spent the evening chasing the sunset around Solvang.  We ended up having a great time.  There was a band playing in the square, some kind of play going on with what sounded like opera in the background and the joyful sounds of summer everywhere. We walked all around town, window shopped and ended up at the Mission.  At the Mission we lucked into the mesmerizing moon show, the full moon rose in front of us.  Living life to the fullest, loving the moment, it was beautiful and something I'm sure neither of us will ever forget.

The next day we got up early and meandered up the coast,   We stopped in Pismo and caught a spectacular show of the ocean, pelicans were swooping everywhere.  There was a good wind blowing and they were sailing about the sky.  To top it off on the ground was baby seagulls.  We had a ball.

After that we had a Quesadilla at Ruddells Smoke house in Cyucos followed by Brown Butter Cookies.  We headed up the coast to San Simeon to get a hamburger at Sebastians, only to have them sell out of beef as Phil placed his order.  Bummer, guess there will have to be another time.....

We also made a brief stop at the Madonna Inn, always an interesting stop.  It ended up being a quick two days and we all had a great time.  Thanks to all of you for your love and good wishes.  It means the world to both Phil and I.

Happy Birthday Phil!

Looks like the ship called Fate was in for a little repair.
