What a spectacular Paragliding Show we caught over Monterey Bay

In Phil's and my quest, to live life to the fullest - on a budget, we have been looking for things to do in our area.  We are very blessed that we live in an area that has plenty to do for free, which is a great price on a budget.  I have been watching the paragliders from afar, dreaming of taking photographs.  I guess it reminds me of  birds, I most certainly have a thing for photographing birds in flight.  So we headed out to Sand City, parked and headed to the beach to check out what we could see.  What transpired was spectacular show for Phil and I.  The camera was out and the paragliding show began.  If they had only known what a wonderful thing that they were doing.
We had the best time, they soared above us, they soared with a hawk, a vulture and various other birds.  Up the coast, down the coast, it was energizing, uplifting and Phil it seemed like a show that was just for us.
Thank you to the people who performed such an act of kindness without knowing anything........
What joy and sublime beauty.

Of course I looked up paragliding when I got home and I saw that there is a place that teaches you how to para glide, gives tours and such.  Monterey Sky Sports, they had great information and I saw this particular para glider on their page.  (I'm happy on the ground, taking photos, thank you)

So thank you very much to them.

They hung in the air, they sailed by on the breeze, but my favorite part was when they sailed above us.

I found a web page about where to paraglide and interesting facts at:

Phil and I anxiously wait for the next MRI, we are trying to keep busy and fill our lives with joyful things.  The MRI is on the 28th of this month, waiting is a bitch.
Tomorrow we will be taking a field trip to the Monterey Bay Aquarium.  Noelle, my daughter, works there and we will be dining with her.  We are both very excited and are looking forward to it.

We have a few days off this week and we are going to try to do something joyful each day.
We are filled with gratitude, joy and hope.
There are not enough words of appreciation and love.

In the dark moments, and they creep in, we try to redirect our thoughts to the positive.
We spend many hours talking about what we feel, what we fear and how to proceed.
The only way to proceed seems to be with the philosophy and what Phil always says,
"You only live once, this is the one we have and now let's make the best of it".

We have learned lessons of kindness from those who have shared kindness with us.  Phil and I both make an effort to help others, it feels like payback for all that have been shared with us.  We can figure no other way to pay back for the support, love and prayers of others.

We have learned lessons about friendship and human nature, more good than bad, but there have lessons of both kinds.  When time is of the essence, you pick your battles and realize that all the petty infractions mean little.  Phil and I will bicker sometimes....only to look at each other, apologize and move on quickly.  No grudges, no words to hurt and always realizing what is important, love and each other.

The people who are suppose to be in your life stay there and the others sail away.  It is a cruel lesson but one well learned.   The people who stay, you realize are the souls that care....
This journey is a mixture of the most devastating pain along with the most joy, love and happiness I have ever felt in my life.

Each day a blessing and each day beautiful.

Phil watching a hawk and a para glider sailing in the breeze together, what freedom.
I can only imagine the views from their perspective.

The start off in the dunes, and float over the beach and sea.

We had a wonderful time and enjoyed the show, it was joyful and what a gorgeous day.

Photography fills me full of joy.  To be able to capture that moment soothes me.

I asked Phil if he is satisfied with life, if he feels there is more that he wants to do.
He responds telling me all the things that are giving him pleasure
The dogs, getting to spend time together and adventures.

With that, we will continue to have our "adventures" and explore the Monterey Peninsula.  We are going to do all the things that we wished we had time to do before.  The hikes, the events and sights we have missed.

With hope and courage we move forward.
For our moment "in the sky"
we say thank you for the show.

"When we contemplate the whole globe as one great dewdrop, striped and dotted with continents and islands, flying through space with other stars all singing and shining together as one, the whole universe appears as an infinite storm of beauty."
John Muir

Our hearts are filled with hope, courage and your love.
Thank you
