On our Walk - Coast Guard Jetty, Sea Otters and a new Business Opening - Out to Sea!

One of Phil's and my favorite places to take our walk is at the Coast Guard Jetty in Monterey.  You never know what you may see over the sides of the jetty; animals, boats and kayaks.  Divers, fisherman and swimmers.....unpredictable, it never looks the same and I love it because the walk gets me close to the local wildlife to photograph them.  Today it was a special treat as we also were going to be visiting our neighbors new establishment close to the jetty.  The business is one related to diving, fishing and much more.  Great shop, if you are out there please stop and take a look.  We started our walk there today.

The shop was fascinating to me, a novice to such things.  The decor is nautical and  inviting.  They were stringing their own lures, it is full of interesting and beautiful equipment.  I have fished lakes in Arkansas and everything in this shop seemed to be made in the land of the giants compared to what I'm used to.  Thanks for showing us around Chris, congratulations and here's hoping for big success.

If you are visiting our area, or even if you live around Monterey, the jetty is a great place to check out the local wildlife, the coast guard boats and the harbor.  There is never a lack of activity, a wonderful place to take photos of wildlife because the are very close to the jetty.  The jetty is also close to Fisherman's wharf and wharf 2, fresh seafood available at both!

Today we headed into the wind and out onto the jetty.  We were not disappointed, there were jellies, cormorants with babies, sea lions and the sea otters were animated and cute today.

The sea lions are always noisy!  (and a little stinky too)

Sometimes there are large blooms of jellies and you can see them in the water right off the jetty.  Often they get caught up in the harbor waters and are held up in there.

Phil is great at spotting sea stars.

You can watch whale watching boats, sports fishing boats and fishing boats coming in and out.  It was too windy today, but sailboats are a common sight.  We even get a cruise ship in the bay every once in awhile.

Today I was hoping for some photos of sea otters and they obliged.

Can you see the baby sea otter in the photo below?  Mom and baby were sound asleep.

At the end of the jetty, the cormorants have their nests and the babies were active and asking for food.

As we walked back by "Out to Sea" we noticed a boat parked out front.  I love the idea that you can just pull up for your adventure out to sea!!!!!

We spotted the Magic Woman, she was in for repairs.

Thank you to everyone who participated in making this birthday memorable for Phil.  It ended up being a wonderful month for him.  Thank you, it means the world to us.
Phil has been having a good couple of days, we live for those days.
Happy Fourth of July to everyone.
We are grateful and living our moments.
